Are you liking it? I keep going back and forth between hating it, tolerating it, and liking it-really liking it, but I’m only about 30% through so far.
On the one hand, there’s very little character development and not really much of a narrative through-line. It’s really more a collection of vignettes than a typical novel. I think it would work much better if it centered on a single protagonist.
But to it’s credit, there’s something addictive and relatable about it. I’ve found myself laughing out loud several times (mostly the uncomfortable “oh god, I’ve been there” kind of chuckle. But a chuckle none the less.)
I don’t think it’s breaking any new ground, but it’s been a pretty pleasurable read. I only have about 40 pages to go, so here’s hoping it comes to some sort of satisfying conclusion.
I’m interested to see how the pilot plays out. I think it’s a great jumping off point for a series, if done right.
